Grays Scrap Iron and Metal is actually an extension of two mechanic and body shops, Grays Auto Domestic on Nolensville Rd and Grays Auto Unlimited on Thompson Lane, both in Nashville Tennessee and owned by Glen A. Gray.
In 1984, Glen A. Gray, founder of our sister company Grays Auto Parts, took a chance and opened Grays Auto Foreign parts, a six-acre auto recycling yard in Lavergne Tennessee. His two sons, Allen and Ashley, became part of the family business immediately. After several years of his hard work, Glen transformed those six acres into a thriving successful business.
Glen fell ill in 2001 and his sons stepped up to help run the family business. Ashley’s wife Connie, who had been helping to care for Glen during his absence, became part of the business and made some changes to help make it function more smoothly.
Glen passed away in 2005 after a long battle with diabetes, leaving Ashley, Connie and Allen to continue operating the family business together. Following struggles and hard times, the business became more profitable and efficient then ever before.
In May of 2006, Connie and Ashley decided it was time to diversify and Grays Scrap Iron and Metal was born. Starting a new business in today’s economy was risky but they were up to the challenge. They expanded the small 6 acre lot into 16 acres and with 5 employees and virtually no equipment to speak of, the first load of scrap metal left the yard on January 3, 2007.
Gray’s Scrap Iron and Metal continues to grow, serving the needs of multiple businesses as well as the local community. We know our customers expect to be treated with honesty and fairness. Give us the opportunity to show you how we do business. We know that you won’t be disappointed.
